Three homepages I keep coming back to
Three sites that nail the basics - clarity, proof, and a next step - and what each one does that you can steal.
I look at a lot of homepages. These three keep earning re-visits - not because they're pretty (they are), but because each one does one conversion fundamental brilliantly.
The one that answers everything above the fold
Stripe's homepage has always been the masterclass in "explain the complicated thing simply." One sentence, a product visual doing the talking, and a signup button you could find with your eyes closed. Nothing competes with the single message. Steal this: one idea per screen, and let the visual prove it.
The one that leads with proof
Basecamp has run essentially the same homepage for years because it works: the headline states the outcome, and the page immediately shows you real customers saying real things. No abstract brand fluff. Steal this: put your proof where the bragging usually goes.
The one that respects your time
Linear's site is short. Painfully short. A few screens, clear product shots, done. It works because every line earns the next scroll. Steal this: cut your homepage in half, then cut it in half again, then check if anything important disappeared. Usually nothing did.
The pattern across all three: they treat the visitor's attention like money. Spend it carefully and the visitor stays. Waste it and they're gone.
